Our PASMA Low Level Access Course delivers a minimum of 3½ hours of instruction and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 12 delegates, providing training on low level access equipment (platform height under 2.5m) made from prefabricated components, such as folding step units and folding tower units.
The agenda for the PASMA Low Level Access Course includes:
Legal Overview – Health & Safety / Work at Height Regulations
Guidance & Information
Low Level Access Options
Podiums
Folding Scaffolds
Folding Step Platforms
Wide Area Low Level Platforms
Hazards
The PASMA Low Level Access Course is aimed at personnel who are or will be responsible for assembling, dismantling, moving, inspecting and using Low Level Access equipment such as Podiums, Folding Room Scaffolds and Low Level Access Work Platforms. There are no prerequisite required for this course although a working knowledge of low level access equipment is an advantage.
Since the safe use of low level access units requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, English literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any podium user.
Please note that delegates will be expected to work at height whilst using low level access equipment, so please ensure delegates are in good health and do not have a fear of heights that may preclude them from taking part in the practical assessment.
Candidate Entry Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be literate
- Must be physically fit
Health & Fitness Statement
Abilities (Standard Mobile Tower Course)
Since the safe use of mobile access towers requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any tower user.
Similarly, since the assembly and use of mobile access towers can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
If delegates have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about their fitness to use mobile access towers, they must bring them to the attention of their employer. This need not preclude them from using mobile access towers, provided their employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties they may have.
Please Note:
All delegates will be required (In groups of up to 4 persons) to assist in the assembly, alteration, moving and dismantling of a 4.2m Mobile Tower. Any delegate who displays a fear of height that would, in the opinion of the Instructor, make them a danger to themselves or others may be failed on the practical assessment.
